The Challenge

As the UK went into lockdown, we looked for new ways of reaching PGRO’s grower audience and continuing to share the results of its research in a new, visual and virtual way. Without face-to-face events and training, a virtual form of presenting and sharing knowledge was needed to continue offering growers access to its expertise.

What we did

We proposed a series of professional video presentations recorded over Zoom and accompanied by on-screen graphics. Each presentation focused on four main areas of interest for peas and beans growers throughout the season; pea and bean diseases, integrated pest management strategies, pre-emergence herbicides, and cover cropping. We worked with the team to script each presentation before editing the footage into short, 10-minute videos with an easy-to-follow narrative.

In 2021, we got together with PGRO’s team in person and re-recorded each presentation in high-resolution against a green screen and using a teleprompter, allowing appropriate backdrops to be placed behind each speaker and firming up the content to ensure the videos could be utilised as a learning resource for years to come.

The Results

Starting from no video content at all, PGRO’s YouTube channel at the time of writing has had over 1,850 views, significantly boosting its digital profile and providing valuable content to its audience via its popular Twitter feed, website and e-newsletters. Since recreating the presentations in a studio environment for 2022, growers now have access a suite of professional learning resources with the client commenting on the professional way they had been created and delivered and remarking on the simplicity and easy-to-understand content.
